    It can get very expensive to use these cans, and seems wasteful. Any ideas?

    Lascaux makes a 1 liter can that you can pour into a fine spray bottle, or you can use one of those blow sprayer atomizers (but I didn’t have good luck w/ the atomizer – maybe for very small works)… (Here is an article) w/ more details on fixing from John Lovett. I’m sure there are other brands as well, but Lascaux is all I’ve used and I trust that brand. Apparently you can make fixativ. Good luck!
